Swagger Jackin Drizzy

So a friend of mine brought this to my attention the other day. There’s a line between quoting and jacking and I think it’s clear what side Drake is on at this point. Hip hop is known to as a sampling culture but when you do it you got to pay homage and it’s evident that Drake definitely needs to pay his respects. Taking lines and tweaking them as your own gives no credit to the mind that actually came up with it. Press play and compare Drakes second verse to Dead Prez’s first one, he not only takes the words but his whole style of delivery. Not Cool.

"Uh, one thing 'bout music
When it hit you feel no pain
White folks says it controls your brain
I know better than that
That's game and we ready for that
Two soldiers head of the pack
…” -Dead Prez ‘Hip Hop’

“One thing ’bout music, when it hits you feel no pain
And I swear I got that shit that make these bitches go insane
So they tell me that they love me, I know better than that, it’s just game
It’s just what comes with the fame, and I’m ready for that, I’m just sayin’…”- Drake ‘Over’

TTC driver has been charged with assault

Police were called to Lawerence Avenue West at Bayview on Wednesday at around 10:45am.

According to police, the driver got into a fare dispute with a young man. Things allegedly turned violent, and the driver is accused of assaulting the man, breaking a window on the bus in the process.

"I just saw a broken window, and there were four cop cars," said student Graham Teeple, who was nearby when the incident took place.

The TTC's Brad Ross spoke to CityNews on Wednesday afternoon.

"My understanding is it was a fare dispute, it had to do with a student fare and not having a student i.d. and it escalated from there," he said.

The alleged victim, 18-year old Ricardo Jardim, was hurt, but not seriously.

Hagos Bereket, 30, of Toronto, has been charged with assault.

He will appear in court May 25.

The TTC has gone on record as saying everyday, one of their employees becomes a victim of assault. The transit commission does have a set of guidelines laid out for conflict resolution.

This incident comes as the TTC is working hard to repair its damaged reputation among riders, following a spat of bad publicity, including a highly publicized photo of a sleeping ticket collector, a fare hike, and the downfall of Chairman Adam Giambrone. -CityNews

Apple sells more than 300,000 iPads on first day

Apple says it sold more than 300,000 iPads on Saturday, the day it debuted across the United States.

Sales included pre-orders of the iPad, a new type of touch-screen device that blends features of the iPhone, electronic book readers and tablet computers.

The device will go on sale in Canada later this month.

Prices start at $499 for iPads that connect to the Internet through Wi-Fi. Apple will sell costlier iPads with cellular data connections later this month.

Apple says that iPad owners downloaded over a million applications from its app store and more than 250,000 electronic books Saturday.

Apple's CEO Steve Jobs says the iPad is going to be a game changer. Its shares are down 17 cents to $235.80 in premarket trading.- The Toronto Star

Erykah Badu gets charged for window seat video

Law enforcement officials in Dallas are considering hitting Erykah Badu with a disorderly conduct charge for walking around Dallas’ Dealey Plaza in the nude while filming her controversial new video “Window Seat” (YouTubes of the clip have been removed, but it’s posted in full on Badu’s official website). While no one who witnessed Badu’s strip show called law enforcement at the time of the shoot, police are actively asking anyone who saw Badu naked to step forward and file a complaint. “I don’t think it’s going to be something she would go to jail behind, but certainly the message has to be sent,” Dallas Mayor Pro Tem Dwaine Caraway told WFAA-TV.

More risqué controversy can be found in our Crotch Rock gallery.

As Rolling Stone previously reported, Badu was inspired by Matt & Kim’s “Lesson Learned” video, which featured the pair streaking naked in New York’s Times Square. The singer also references John F. Kennedy’s assassination in the “Window Seat” video, her second clip off New Amerykah Part Two (Return of the Ahnk). Passersby may not have called authorities, but they certainly noted the star’s unusual behavior on the day of the shoot. “They were yelling, THIS IS A PUBLIC PLACE: YOU OUGHTA BE ASHAMED: PUT YOUR CLOTHES ON: DAMN GIRL!” Badu wrote on Twitter. Her biggest concern, aside from the law, was the fact that children were present while she walked around the grassy knoll naked. “There were children there. i prayed they wouldn’t b traumatized…,” Badu added.
